The Scottish Oyster Shucking Championships at Stranraer Oyster Festival
Chefs, oyster growers, producers, fishermen and industry professionals will battle it out against each other and the clock in a bid to be named Scottish Oyster Shucking Champion 2026. The winner will go on to represent Scotland at the World Oyster Opening Championships in Galway, Ireland. This is an energetic, risky and fast-paced competition and it’s great fun to watch!
The winner will be crowned the SCOTTISH SHUCKING CHAMPION and will go on to represent Scotland in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS at Galway Oyster Festival on an all-expenses paid trip.

You'll race against the clock and against other industry professionals to open a platter of Loch Ryan native oysters. Marks will be awarded on the speed of opening, technique and presentation, which means it's not always the fastest shucker who triumphs!
