Stranraer Oyster Festival Dance Performance and Workshops
We are looking for budding singers and dancers to get involved with Stranraer Oyster Festival!
An incredible FREE and exciting opportunity is available, delivered by Lianne Brown, local dancer and singer for Astoria and Wild Thyme who has travelled the world performing. This is a unique experience that YOU are able to take part in.
Open to everyone over 11 years old.
Workshops will be to teach you a dance that will be performed during Stranraer Oyster Festival.
We are also looking for singers that would like the amazing opportunity to be involved with attending a recording studio to professionally record a song created especially for the festival.
Oyster Dancers:
You will learn a fun choreographed dance routine with Lianne. You will be expected to learn and remember the dance moves between sessions.
If you have any special dance or acrobatic skills, please let us know.
By signing up to become an Oyster Dancer you are making a commitment to attend all rehearsal and performance dates (please advise if any problem dates and we will try to accommodate).
Please bring water & a note pad/pen, wear clothing that allows you full movement & flexible trainers you can dance in.
Dance Workshop dates:
Wed 21st, Fri 23rd, Wed 28th, Fri 30th August, Wed 4th, Fri 6th, Wed 11th & Fri 13th Sept 2024. 4-5PM in The Millennium Centre, Stranraer.
Oyster Singers:
Lianne has written and created an amazing new song that is going to be used for promoting Stranraer Oyster Festival, as well as performed at the Big Oyster Bash and over the Festival weekend. It's catchy, fun and all about the festival. We can guarantee that everyone in Stranraer will soon be singing it!
We would like to offer up to 8 people the opportunity of joining Lianne in a professional recording studio in Wigtown to produce the official oyster song. This is an incredible opportunity and it completely FREE. It will be a great experience to learn and especially interesting for those considering an entertainment career in future or those that may already be there!
The recording studio is booked for Tuesday 6th August at 12noon. You must be available to meet in Stranraer at 11am for arranged transport to the studio.
No experience needed, but the ability to hold a note and a passion to learn about the industry.
- All participants must be available to take part in live performance during the Big Bash on Saturday 7th September and Stranraer Oyster Festival 13th-15th September.
- Under 16's require parental consent to take part.
- All participants must be happy to complete a photography consent form as the live performance will be documented for marketing purposes.
